Chamber’s annual Holly Jolly just around the corner

STEPHENVILLE (December 3, 2018) – The Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and SPARD are getting ready for the annual Holly Jolly Christmas celebration located on the downtown square and plaza on Friday, December 7, from 6-9 p.m.

Community members can look forward to the official lighting of the Christmas tree as well as getting pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Clause. There will also be a lighted hayride and horse-drawn carriage rides available for individuals to take a ride downtown. The Stephenville High School choir “In the Mix” will perform carols in the courthouse. The Gilbert Intermediate School and the Henderson Junior High choirs will also be performing at the First United Methodist Church. The main stage will feature performances by local dance companies and church bands.

The community can also come and enjoy the petting zoo hosted by the Great American Entertainment Company. Kids will have the opportunity to write and mail a letter to Santa at the library, as well as playing games, decorating cookies and making crafts. Due to popular demand, the Grinch will also be making an appearance and taking photos with kids both young and old. There will be many drinks and snacks as well, like hot chocolate, apple cider, coffee, popcorn, cotton candy, homemade desserts and much more.

Many of the activities are free while others are fundraisers for various local non-profit organizations. Vendors will also be set up around the Plaza and downtown retailers will be open.

“The Chamber is excited to partner with the city of Stephenville to organize a family-fun community event that celebrates Christmas, showcases talented local youth singers and dancers, provides fundraising opportunities for area non-profit organizations and allows attendees to get a fun start on their holiday shopping,” said July Danley, president/CEO of the Stephenville Chamber. “The best part of the entire evening is getting to celebrate this joyous time of year with family and friends in this community we all love. You will definitely leave with that child-like feeling of Christmas still resonating in your soul.”

Booth registration is now available for any business or organization that is interested in selling goods, providing an activity or craft for the children or having a fundraising booth. Call the Chamber at 254-965-5313 or visit to register your booth. Booth reservations must be made by end of business on Monday, Dec. 3 in order to participate.

The Chamber would also like to send a special shout-out to their event sponsors for “helping to make this event bigger and better than ever.”
