Seven area high school teams make state polls

Sport: (December 23, 2014) — Seven area high school basketball teams are state-ranked entering the Christmas holiday, including six Cross Timbers girls clubs.

Stephenville is ranked fifth by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and ninth by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, and the Honeybees aren’t the highest ranked club in the vicinity.

Lipan’s girls are ranked No. 2 by the TABC and No 3 by the TGCA. They are followed in the top 10 by Strawn, which is No. 4 in the TABC poll and No. 6 according to the TGCA.

Other girls teams in the rankings are Huckabay, Hico and Santo. Huckabay has the only local boys team in the TABC rankings.
