STEPHENVILLE (February 3, 2015) — A Tarleton State University student-produced documentary featuring veterans who served in World War II will premiere at noon on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Majestic Theater in Eastland.

Students from Tarleton’s Digital Media Studies program produced the feature-length film, Answering the Call, as part of an Applied Learning Experience for service learning under the direction of Assistant Professor Chris Ireland.

Answering the Call features veterans from North Texas who describe their experiences, both at home and abroad, while serving in the U.S. military during World War II.

The film’s premiere follows an opening reception of the National Endowment of the Humanities’ “Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation” exhibition at the Eastland County Museum. The exhibit contains photographs, oral histories and various artifacts from American life, starting with the Great Depression and continuing through WWII and the Baby Boom.

Prior to the screening, the museum, located at 114 S. Seaman St., will honor area veterans at a reception at 10 a.m., featuring special guests including Stephenville Mayor Kenny Weldon.

  1. You said this was the “premiere”. Do you have a schedule of other times and places this will be shown, or a way to order a DVD. I am interested in seeing it but cannot make it this weekend. Thanks.
