STEPHENVILLE (March 4, 2015) — Freshman Julia Flores pitched a two hitter and was one of four Stephenville hitters to drive in two runs as the Honeybees swatted Dublin 11-1 Tuesday night at Optimist Field in Stephenville City Park.
The Bees broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth, after Dublin scored its only run to cut its deficit to 4-1 in the top of the inning.
Flores was 2-for-4 with two doubles from the plate while striking out nine batters and walking four from the circle. The only scar on her stat line was a home run by London Jones, who also pitched a complete game for Dublin.

Sierra Varnado was 2-for-3 with a triple. Varnado, freshman Rainey Boase and senior second baseman Kali Smith all joined Flores with two RBIs. Sami Shafer had two hits and drove in one run.
Cheyenne Holt ripped a triple for Dublin’s only hit besides the homer by Jones.
Stephenville head coach Rus Mayes, whose club improved to 6-2, praised the City of Stephenville for making the game possible.
“We always appreciate the city letting us play at McCleskey Field, but because of the weather we’ve had that just wasn’t an option, and I was afraid we were going to have to cancel it,” said Mayes. “But the parks and rec crew from the city worked all day to make sure we could play on the Optimist Field, and it worked out great. If it weren’t for them, there wouldn’t have been a game tonight.”
