STEPHENVILLE (March 20, 2015) — Congrats to the following art and theatre students for being named state finalists in the Division 1 UIL Theatrical Design Competition. While SHS has had finalists and medalists in this contest over the last six years, this is the most contestants the school has ever had make it to state in a single year. The following students have a chance to build on this success.
The UIL Theatrical Design Competition requires students to study a play and create designs for it using a visual artist as inspiration.  This year’s show was Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS.  Students chose visual art styles ranging from graffiti artists to ancient Egyptian art; from Picasso and cubism to to pop art as their inspiration.
These students will travel to Austin in defend their work before judges and the state UIL Academic meet in May.
