Hilda was born on July, 13, 1949, in Brownwood to the late Erie and Sadie Colbaugh Allen. She married G.A. ‘Pinkie’ Swindle in Acuña, Mexico, on April 19, 1967. Hilda attended Tarleton State University, worked as an LVN in her younger years, was the author of the blog “If Jesus Had a Car,” was the co-owner of Swindle’s Jewelry for the last 42 years, but has worked as a faithful servant of Christ ministering to those in need. People have described her as a sister in Christ, an anchor, rock, cheerleader, gopher, boss bag, fun police, control freak, and wonder woman. She has lived most of her life in Stephenville and Dublin, and was a member at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.

Hilda is survived by her husband, G.A. ‘Pinkie’ Swindle; daughters, Debra Swindle Lucas and husband Trophy, Jennifer Swindle Baine and husband Ralph; grandson, Brit Van Zandt and wife Alyssa; granddaughters, Brittany Baine Walker and husband Mark, Brianna Baine, Baily Van Zandt, Jessica Baine, Piper Baine; great-grandson, Carter Van Zandt; brothers, Walter G. Allen and wife Katrina Moore, James E. ‘Ed’ Allen and wife Mindy; sister-in-law, Carolyn Stevens and husband Lee; sister-in-law D.D. Loftin and husband Jerry; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and especially her loving Cowboy Church family.

Hilda served in many different roles to many different people. She was a wife, mother, mom, sister, Mimi, Jodie, Aunt Jodie, Hil. She was a fighter, with immeasurable strength, but when the Lord called His faithful servant home, she new her work on Earth was done. Her favorite book of The Bible was the Book of Romans, and her advice was to read it often. Romans 1:16-17 (NIV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
