STEPHENVILLE (May 23, 2015) — Legendary multi-time world champion J.J. Hampton of Stephenville was back in the arena and back at the top of the standings in the 2015 Windy Ryon Memorial Team Roping at Windy Ryon Arena in Saginaw Friday.
Hampton and partner Danielle Darnall roped the women’s average title and $3,860 each, while Tibba Smith and partner Ashley Richardson took second in the average for $2,575 each.

Also on Friday at the weekend-long event was the open team roping, with Morgan Mill heeler Dakota Kirchenschlager teaming up with Tyler Wade to win the average and $8,065 each. Dakota also headed for his heeling brother Trevor Kirchenschlager to place second in the short go and fourth in the average, winning $3,825 each.
World champion header Clay Tryan and Jake Long took third in the average and $4,155 each.
Huckabay heeler Paul Eaves partnered with Bubba Buckaloo, roping the short-go victory and $1,490 each in 5.72 seconds. They were sixth in the average, earning another $1,710 for a total of $3,200.
Saturday’s action will conclude with Stephenville world-class roper Marty Yates taking on Justin Maass in a featured tie-down match.
The women’s invitational breakaway roping, the invitational washer pitch and invitational calf roping are also taking place Saturday, and Sunday includes No. 11 team roping, invitational steer roping and No. 9 team roping.
Tickets are $10 at the gate, kids 12U are free and box seats and raffle tickets are also available.
