(July 9, 2015) — Jacobs Crawley has gone Canada, where on Wednesday he covered a bronc named Gone Country.
Crawley scored 85 points in the saddle bronc Wednesday at Calgary Stampede, the world’s richest invite-only tournament rodeo. He placed second to earn $4,500, moving into fourth through two of four rounds in the Pool B standings.
Rounds three and four are today and Friday, with the top four earners joining the best of Pool A in the finals on Sunday. The top four in the finals will turn around and compete in a one-head shootout worth $100,000.
It’s been a historic season already for Crawley, who posted a career-best score in one of his 11 victories, eight of which have come outright. Crawley has won nine events in Texas and two in California, and is currently eighth in the Windham Weaponry 2015 PRCA World Standings. He’s on track to make a fifth straight appearance in the National Finals Rodeo, though the Calgary Stampede does not count toward the PRCA.
Former Tarleton cowboy Richie Champion finished half a point outside the money in the bareback riding with an 84-point ride Wednesday. Local barrel racers Samantha Lyne and Britany Diaz also finished out of the money. Diaz was fourth and earned $2,500 on Tuesday.
