(September 6, 2015) — Nobody cuts a player after a pick six.
Not that Cody Davis appeared to be in any danger of being cut by the St. Louis Rams any way, but the 2008 Stephenville High School graduate and Texas Tech product had to feel secure after intercepting a Chase Daniel pass and returning it 24 yards to the end zone in the the Rams’ preseason game against Kansas City.
Davis has made the regular season roster for the third straight year with the Rams. He had five tackles and the one interception this preseason, and 16 special teams tackles in 27 games over the last two regular seasons.
The Rams signed Davis as an un-drafted free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft.
Past Tarleton great Rufus Johnson has made it with the New England Patriots. The New Orleans Saints selected Johnson in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but released the Dallas native just before the regular season.
Johnson was signed by the Patriots over the offseason and contributed five tackles and a sack this preseason.
