Like heavyweights, Stephenville and Everman traded blows, most of them delivered in the form of hard-hitting, shutdown defense. In the end, Stephenville made a four-down stand at its own eight, Everman later missed a field goal then the Yellow Jackets made theirs with junior Jake Gillespie knocking the winning points straight through the pipes from 24 yards out. Stephenville won 10-7 on Heart of Gold Night at Tarleton’s Memorial Stadium.
