STEPHENVILLE (September 14, 2015) — With just 48 hours until the start of Lone Star Conference play at Angelo State, nobody would have blamed Tarleton State for looking past NAIA member Texas Wesleyan at Wisdom Gym Monday evening.
Nobody except head coach Mary Schindler, that is.
But Schindler can relax. Her TexAnns were all business. And that was bad news for Wesleyan.
Tarleton (8-2) earned its sixth sweep of the season, defeating Wesleyan (9-6) by identical 25-14 margins in all three sets. The entire match took an hour.
Hailey Roberts was her usual self with 14 kills, six digs and four blocks, while Kelsey Raglin added nine kills, three digs and three blocks and Meg Umble tallied five kills to go with eight blocks. Tarleton also picked up five kills each from Kenya Alexander and Xzache Mathis.
Chandler Gow quarterbacked the offense with 37 assists while Adrianna Knutson had 13 digs and Ayssa Garcia added 11.
Tarleton posted a .402 hitting percentage with 43 kills and eight errors on 87 attacks, while limiting Wesleyan to just a .010 percentage – 24 kills with 23 errors on 202 attacks. Tarleton led 12-1 in blocks, 4-1 in aces and 46-29 in digs.
LSC play begins in San Angelo Wednesday where Tarleton began its season with four wins in the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational. The match at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center begins at 7 p.m.
