LONE STAR ARENA (September 25, 2015)
Timed Event Slack (8 a.m.) — Steer Wrestling
The morning started off with the Barbara Hampton and Family Steer Wrestling Event. The event winner will receive trophy buckles from Cowan Ag Solutions, trophy spurs from WPM LLC, and a custom Henry rifle from Marty Yates and Hampton Realty.
The fast time of the morning went to Shane Frey from Duncan, Oklahoma with a time of 3.6 seconds. Second was Brad Loesch from Graham, Texas with a 3.8, while third place is Sterling Wallace with a time of 4.1 seconds.
Timed Event Slack (9 a.m.) — Calf Roping
The next event was the Cooper’s Country Store Calf Roping. The event winner will receive trophy buckles from Deans Car Wash, trophy spurs from Elite Livestock Insurance, and a custom Henry rifle from Cody Ohl.
Stephenville, Texas very own Marty Yates set the pace with a time of 7.5 seconds. Ace Sloan from Cuero, Texas made a run of 8.1 seconds to put him in the number two position. Tyler Prcin from Alvord, Texas tied his calf in 8.4 seconds to hold on to third position. More calf roping will be tonight at 7 pm at the first performance of the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo. Remember it is American Hero night at the rodeo tonight.
Timed Event Slack (9:45 a.m.) — Team Roping
Slack action concluded with the Smith Ranch Realty and Lewis Trailer Ranch Team Roping Event. The champion header will receive a trophy buckle from Isabella Quarter Horses, trophy spurs from X-Treme Team Roping and a custom Henry Rifle from Lone Star Ropes. The champion heeler will receive a trophy buckle from Isabella Quarter Horses, trophy spurs from Capital Hatters and a custom Henry Rifle from 3S Services.
Nick Sartain from Dover, Oklahoma and Rich Skelton from Llano, Texas started things off with a bang by roping their steer in 4.9 seconds. However, Manny Cunde from Marianna, Florida and Jonathan Torres from Lake Charles, Louisiana made an outstanding run to move them to the lead with a time of 4.6 seconds. Third and fourth place is a split right now between Justin Davis and Zane Bruce and Garrett Tonozzi and Jett Hillman. Both teams recorded a time of 6.0 seconds.
More team roping action can be seen tonight at the first performance of the Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo. The rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville. The Friday performance is American Hero Night at the Rodeo. Also the Zack Edwards Band will be playing after the rodeo for Dancin’ in the Dirt. See you at the RODEO!!!!
