ERATH COUNTY (October 22, 2015) — Donnell Armstrong, 52, of Marion, Arkansas, died Thursday when the 18-wheeler he drove hydroplaned and he lost control, ultimately striking a tree, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Public Information Officer Dub Gilliam.
Accidents happen all the time unfortunately, however, if you have been involved in an accident with an 18-wheeler then it might be a good idea to get some help from a professional attorney like Herrman & Herrman, PLLC, as they may be able to assist you in getting the compensation you deserve following this incident.
No matter how good a driver you think you are, accidents will happen, but there are things that you can do to prevent things from being more serious, such as wearing a seat belt.
“(Armstrong) was thrown from the vehicle, not wearing his seat belt, and died at the scene,” Gilliam said. If this is a situation that you find yourself in, but you are unsure about who to use then it might be a worthwhile checking out someone like David Blackwell 18-Wheeler Crash Attorney.
Erath County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call reporting the accident at 11:59 a.m., moments after the 18-wheeler hydroplaned and exited the left side of the roadway, causing Armstrong to over-correct and exit the right side of the roadway. He was thrown from the vehicle upon impact with a tree, according to Gilliam. This type of accident is rare but does happen, if you find yourself in such an accident, you might find it helpful to visit someone like Fine, Farkash & Parlapiano, P.A. or a law firm more local to you, for help and information on your case.
The truck-tanker was traveling north from Hamilton County and was en route to San Angelo, Gilliam said. Armstrong had crossed the Erath County line just moments before the accident.
Erath County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Shawnee Bass, was later called in to pronounce the driver dead at the scene. Trooper BJ Hill and Sergeant Lynn Pierce investigated the accident for Texas DPS.
