Tarleton Wind Ensemble presents Etude Day finale concert Nov. 15

STEPHENVILLE (November 6, 2015) — The Tarleton State University Wind Ensemble will conclude its fall 2015 semester on Sunday, Nov. 15, with a collage of traditional and contemporary works featuring faculty and student soloists.

The public concert begins at 4 p.m. inside the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium. General admission tickets are $5 or free to all Tarleton students, faculty and staff with a valid ID. Tickets are available in the Fine Arts Center Box Office one hour prior to the concert.

Following its 36-hour, five-concert tour to high schools in Clifton, Belton, Hutto, Lampasas and DeSoto, the home concert will feature assistant professor of clarinet Dr. Dmitri Perevertailenko and Dr. Patricia Card from Sam Houston State University, in Ponchielli’s Il Convegno.

The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Anthony Pursell, will give the world premier performance of Michael Schelle’s contemporary work, Fear Strikes Outfeaturing Tarleton adjunct instructor of low brass Dr. William Haugeberg on trombone. Tarleton’s own Dr. Gary Westbrook will guest conduct Nathan Daughtrey’s percussion concerto, Black Rainbow featuring six students from the university’s percussion studio.
