(November 9, 2015) — Dublin reached the area round of the Region I-3A volleyball playoffs after its second straight perfect run through district, and fittingly, dominated the all-district honors released Monday.

Faith Faulkner, a senior middle for the Lady Lions, is the 7-3A MVP, while Amber James, a senior setter, shared offensive player of the year honors with Torrey Miller, a freshman middle for Bangs.

Dublin senior Joyce Volleman is the district newcomer of the year, junior middle Whitney Weems is blocker of the year and Lady Lion head coach Ryan Lewis, a Dublin native, is coach of the year.

Dublin also placed senior outside hitter Mica Muro and senior right side Kate Gilliland on the first-team roster, senior libero Kayla Azua on the second-team and senior defensive specialist Sable Lopez on the honorable-mention list.

Six Lady Lions earned academic all-district honors – Gilliland, Volleman, Weems, Lopez, Emely Hernandez and Valerie Ortega.

All-district teams are determined by a vote of head coaches. The academic all-district honor is based on grade point average.

The all-district team was released Monday because Dublin was eliminated by Sonora in five sets Saturday in Sweetwater. The Lady Lions led 11-9 in the fifth before Sonora closed the match on a 6-0 run. Dublin has never advanced past the area round.
