STEPHENVILLE (November 11, 2015) — Tarleton State University’s Legendary Weddings & Special Events, an experiential laboratory of the university’s Public Relations and Event Management (PREM) program, is recipient of a 2015 Worthy Award from the Greater Fort Worth chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

The Tarleton student-led non-profit organization is one of just two student groups honored by the Fort Worth PRSA chapter during its annual gala Nov. 5 at the Fort Worth Club.

Worthy Awards recognize “the best in strategic communications” and acknowledged Legendary Weddings & Special Events’ production of the 2015 Central Texas Wedding Expo for top achievement in the special events category. Tarleton’s entry was evaluated by third-party judges from the Greater Cleveland (Ohio) PRSA chapter.

Legendary Weddings & Special Events hosts its Central Texas Wedding Expo on the Tarleton campus annually, with the next expo set for Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016. The expo is a production of PREM students under the direction of Dr. Gay Wakefield, associate professor and coordinator of the university’s PREM program.

The Central Texas Wedding Expo is a boutique-style show that includes a bridal-party fashion show and wedding vendors; exhibits for venues, makeup, catering, photography and wedding cakes; and drawings for couples and their wedding parties.
