ERATH COUNTY (November 19, 2015) — A shooting at La Sombra Estates, just north of Dublin on Farm to Market Road 219, Thursday afternoon has left one patient in critical condition and another man in the Erath County Jail.
According to law enforcement officials, James Lange, 29 of Dublin, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting another man near his home. Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant, Lange shot the victim for trespassing on his property. However, investigators, who spoke with Lange following the incident, did not believe he had grounds to shoot the subject and charged him.

“This afternoon my deputies were dispatched to a shooting where a male subject shot another male subject he believed was trespassing on his property,” said Bryant. “The patient is alive and was taken by CareFlite to a Fort Worth hospital where he is in critical condition, but expected to pull through. After extensive questioning Lange was taken into custody and booked into the jail.”
Bryant did not name the patient, but did confirm there were no other injuries associated with the incident, which took place about 4 p.m. Erath County Sheriff’s investigators interviewed the shooter, and he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No bond has been set as of 8 p.m.
