STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton men’s basketball is ranked No. 9 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The Texans, who are 5-1 on the season, were ranked No. 1 in the first regular season NABC poll after a 4-0 start, but suffered their first loss on an overtime buzzer-beater by Colorado State-Pueblo on November 27.

This is the 66th week Tarleton has been ranked in the top 10 in program history. The Texans spent 10 weeks in the top 10 last season.

Tarleton is one of three Lone Star Conference teams ranked in the NABC poll, with Angelo State climbing six spots to No. 7 and Midwestern State falling three spots to No. 14.

Also ranked on Tarleton’s 2015-16 schedule is Rollins at No. 17, who the Texans will play on Dec. 18 in Las Vegas. CSU-Pueblo received 10 votes, and Delta State, who Tarleton defeated 80-71 earlier this season, received six votes. Drury, Tarleton’s opponent on Dec. 19 in Las Vegas, was ranked as high as No. 5 but dropped out of the poll.

Tarleton will take on Arlington Baptist tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
