Doris Powell, 94, was peacefully reunited with many family and friends on Thursday morning December 10. A celebration of her life will be held at Lacy Funeral Home at 11 am Saturday December 12 with a visitation one hour prior from 10-11 am. She will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, TX. She was born in May 19, 1921 in Gatesville, TX. to Ceyla and Frank Johnson and had twin sisters and two brothers. Doris married Roger Powell in 1940 and they raised two sons, Bill and Roger Jr. in Gatesville, Goldthwaite, Brownwood, Brady and Coleman, TX before settling in Stephenville. Roger has been waiting to meet her in heaven since 1984, and son Roger Jr. since 2013. Doris lit up every room she entered with a warm smile and friendly laugh. She was a longtime member of Harvey Baptist Church, were she taught Sunday school; and volunteered at H.O.P.E. helping those in need for over 25 years. She loved to sew, draw and paint, volunteer, teach, travel, play cards, and most of all laugh and love with anyone she came into contact with. She is survived by her son Bill Powell and his wife Linda, of Dublin; daughter-in-law Patsy Powell of Bells, TX; grandchildren Laurie Beckmon and husband Greg of Paris, TX, Brad Powell and wife Melissa of Gillette, WY, Lisa Powell of Houston, and Brian Powell and wife Kelli of Dallas. Six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to H.O.P.E. 1517 E Washington, Stephenville, TX 76401.
