STEPHENVILLE (December 21, 2015) — There was a lot of commotion along Washington Street between HEB and Big Lots Saturday when a woman hit several vehicles with her own in an attempt to flee from law enforcement.

According to Stephenville PD officials, Phoebe Ann Thomerson, 37, was booked into the Erath County Jail on a laundry list of charges including forgery of a financial instrument, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, fleeing a police officer and possession of marijuana among numerous others.

Thomerson allegedly attempted to cash a forged check in HEB and fled the scene when officers were called. In an attempt to get away, Thomerson hit several vehicles in the parking lot of HEB, crossed Washington Street and hit another vehicle in the parking lot of Big 5. The crash in the Big 5 parking lot disabled Thomerson’s vehicle and, after a brief attempt to escape on foot, Stephenville Police officers were able to detain her on scene.

Searching the vehicle, witnesses said Stephenville PD removed a number of papers, several wigs and a police scanner from Thomerson’s vehicle. Stephenville Animal Control arrived on scene and removed a dog that jumped from the vehicle when the suspect did.

Thomerson was transported from the scene to the hospital before being booked on 13 charges. Officials reported no one else was seriously injured in the incident.
