Stephenville – Services for Evelyn Fern (Stallings) Pierce, 87, teacher, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Gordon, Texas. Burial will follow at New Gordon Cemetery. Arrangements by Lacy Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born in Palo Pinto County, Texas on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1928 to Lonnie Edward Stallings and Vada (Szpor) Stallings. She married Robert N. Pierce on October 6, 1946, in Santo, Texas.
She was a lifelong Baptist. Evelyn taught high school math for many years before she retired from Jayton, Texas.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Robert N. Pierce of Stephenville, 4 children; Annette Sherrod and husband, Rick of Stephenville, Anita Pierce of Stephenville, Roger Pierce and wife, Heidi of Houston, TX., Jamie Pierce of Austin, TX., sister-in-law; Wanda Stallings of Gordon, TX., 4 grandchildren; Trevor Tidwell of League City, TX., Lance Tidwell of Austin, TX., Molly Pierce of Houston, TX., William Pierce of Denver, CO., 6 great-grandchildren; Lorelai Tidwell, Lucas Tidwell, Charles Tidwell, Clara Tidwell, Robert Tidwell, Paige Weiss, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; James Stallings and L.E. Stallings.
