MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

LUNCH: Family will have lunch at Pettit Baptist Church following the memorial service.

Carroll Dale Land, age 83, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Gustine, Texas.

He was born on Saturday, February 20, 1932 in Coleman Texas, to Carroll Kenneth Land and Edyth Ann Bray (Hays). Carroll served in the Texas National Guard from 1948 to 1951 and the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. On September 16, 1985, he was united in marriage to Peggy Ann Land in Paradise, Texas. Carroll was an electrician for Bell Helicopter and retired after 29 years. He was a Master Mason of the Hope Masonic Lodge and an active member of Pettit Baptist Church. Carroll spent the last 20 years of his life with his wife and children in Gustine, Texas on the 45 acres that he loved. He was an avid lover of guns and a lifetime member of the NRA. He shared that love of guns with his children and grandchildren taking them to shoot and making memories on “Pappy’s Place.” He loved his children and grandchildren and was always very proud of them.

Carroll is survived by his son Travis Land and Amista Thiebaud of Gustine; daughter Anna Land Wendel and husband Randy of Hutto; son, Tommy Land and wife Maureen of Grand Prairie; daughter, Diane Hohertz and husband Mike of Colleyville; daughter, Denise Hunter of Arlington; daughter, Jan Barnard of San Antonio; daughter, Linda Klonz and husband Ralph of San Antonio; daughter, Jeanie Shelton and Kent of Houston; granddaughter, Isabella Hernandez, grandson Levi Hernandez, grandson Jordan Wendel and grandson Gavin Wendel of Hutto; grandsons Garrett, Cameron, William, and Grayson, and granddaughter Masako Land of Grand Prairie; grandsons Matthew, Andrew, and Mark Hohertz of Colleyville; granddaughter Erin Hunter of Arlington; granddaughter Allison Barnard of San Antonio; granddaughter Jeana Owens and husband Lance of San Angelo; granddaughter Bonnie Holder and husband Greg of San Angelo; great-granddaughters Sydnee, Sophia, and great-grandson Jase Owens of San Angelo, and great-granddaughter Katie Thomas of San Angelo, Texas. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Land and wife Kay of Houston; nephew Brice Land and wife Jeni of Houston; and nephew Blake Land of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Land, and parents Carroll Kenneth Land and Edyth Ann Hays .
