STEPHENVILLE (January 29, 2016) — Enjoy the same richness and flavor that inspired the ancient Mayans to revere chocolate as the nectar of the gods Feb. 7, when Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas welcomes Wiseman House Chocolates for an afternoon of sampling, education and fun.

Located in Hico, Wiseman House is known for its fine handmade chocolates and artisan chocolate-making classes. Over the years, the chocolatier has become famous for the unusual names given to its candies and the interesting stories behind them.

Wiseman’s signature dark chocolate, Dark Rufus, is named for artist Rufus Wiseman, who built the Wiseman House more than 100 years ago. Apricot Adeline, a white chocolate truffle, is named after Rufus’ wife.

The free event begins at 2:30 p.m. No reservations are required.

The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The center is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene. For more information, visitwww.tarleton.edu/gordoncenter or the museum’s Facebook page.
