DUBLIN (February 3, 2016) — Conner Moore is the only area football recruit to sign a Division I national letter of intent.
Moore was an eleventh-hour addition to local national signing day plans, as Dublin athletic director and head football coach Bob Cervetto announced Wednesday morning about 7 a.m. that he would signing with Abilene Christian University.
“It feels blessed to play at this level,” said Moore of signing with Division I-FCS ACU. “I think it’s going to be a good fit and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it.”
Moore joined Dublin volleyball standout Amber James, who signed a letter of commitment with Brookhaven College in the DFW suburb of Farmer’s Branch, for signing day festivities in the Dublin High School library Wednesday.
Moore was two-time district defensive player of the year in 10-3A Division I, and also earned a pair of all-state distinctions from the Texas Sportswriters Association. He helped Dublin to school history with playoff wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time ever.
James also helped Dublin to a bit of history on the volleyball side as the Lady Lions went perfect in district play and won a playoff match.
“I’m really excited,” said James, a multi-sport star at Dublin. “I can’t wait to see what it’s like to play only one sport year round.”
