(February 15, 2016) — Breanna Fuller is peaking at the right time.
So are the Tarleton State TexAnns.
The 6-2 senior forward from Huntsville blocked a career-best seven shots Saturday, leading Tarleton to its fifth straight win and capping perhaps the best week of her TexAnn career.
Fuller and Tarleton blocked 10 shots in a 61-53 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Wisdom Gym, to conclude a week that also included a 65-50 road upset of No. 24 Angelo State.
Fuller’s reward for her block party against TAMK and for averaging 11.5 points and five rebounds during the week is her first Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor. Weekly LSC awards were announced by press release on Monday.
ASU and TAMUK combined to shoot just 32.5 percent and score 51.5 points per game against the TexAnns last week. Tarleton is allowing just 55.4 points during its ongoing five-game win streak, and Fuller has been a big reason why.
A transfer to Tarleton from Division I Northwestern State (La.) before last season, Fuller scored 13 points and grabbed seven boards at ASU. She is averaging 10.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks during the streak.
Tarleton takes takes streak to Eastern New Mexico Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. (CST) LSC battle.
