Join Tarleton’s Center for Environmental Studies for ‘Green As We Grow’

STEPHENVILLE (February 16, 2016) — Join Tarleton State University’s Center for Environmental Studies at noon Wednesday, Feb. 17, for the latest updates on Green As We Grow and get information on how to fund your on-campus project to promote sustainability.

The meeting takes place in Room 113 of the Joe W. Autry Agriculture Building. Lunch is provided.

Dr. Barbara Bellows, assistant professor and Center of Environmental Studies coordinator, will describe the new student-led initiative and share how students can implement on-campus environmental projects or review student-developed proposals designed to make the Stephenville campus a truly green community.

In addition to Bellows, other Tarleton faculty members will present info on composting, the university’s new aquaponics program and butterfly gardens, to name a few topics. Student speakers will cover Tarleton’s sustainable teaching garden, permaculture research and bioswales (landscape elements designed to remove silt and pollution from surface runoff water).
