Randy Joe Spikes, 63, of Stephenville, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 in Fort Worth.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Cowboy Church of Erath County with Werth Mayes officiating, Burial will follow at Lower Greens Creek Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Randy was born on November 5, 1952 in Dublin to Lige and Robbie Weir Spikes. He married Katherine Ann Pettey on March 17, 1979 in Stephenville. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2003. Randy later married Jackie Smith on July 4, 2009 at Lake Leon. Randy was lifelong resident of Erath County and worked as a Firefighter for the city of Stephenville for 40 years where he served as Battalion Chief Fireman, Master Firefighter and Fire Investigator. He also worked for the Tarleton Police department for 10 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 276 in Stephenville, Shriners, AFLCIO, the Scottish Rite, and the Sons of Confederacy. Randy graduated from Stephenville High School in 1971 and also graduated from Tarleton with a bachelor’s degree in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Eastland; son, Mason Taylor Spikes and wife Felicia; grandson Tristan Spikes “the love of his life” of Eastland; brother, Lanny Spikes and wife Lavera of Stephenville; step-children, James Smith and wife Rachel of Stephenville, Michelle Salyer and husband Dr. Eddie Salyer of Dublin; Lee Dean and wife April of Nashville AR; Mike Dean and wife Rose of Locksburg, AR; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Randy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Lynn on June 7, 1980.
Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite or to the Masonic Lodge Retirement Home.
