(February 22, 2016) — Lingleville advanced past the bi-district round of the boys basketball playoffs for the fifth consecutive year Monday night, and the Cardinals did so in convincing fashion.
Throckmorton was outmanned from the start as Lingleville jumped ahead 20-1 and never looked back. It was 36-8 by halftime at Hamilton High School.
Lingleville advances to face Priddy in a Region III-A area round playoff. The Cardinals have also won five straight area titles. The game was tentatively set for 6:30 or 7 p.m. Thursday in De Leon, and The Flash will have more information as it becomes available.
Guard Tim Griffin and post Jarod Hagood each scored 13 points to pace the Cardinals, who also picked up six each from Colbe Stoker, Sergio Rangel, Tom VanKranenburg and Devon Corpus. Bailey Fenn scored four, Bret Cogburn three and Parker Hallmark one.
Griffin also dealt five assists and swiped three steals. Stoker had four assists and five steals. Corpus led the team with nine rebounds while Fenn collected six.
Lingleville shot 48 percent from the floor including 70 percent from inside the arc. The Cardinals were off target from 3-point range, however, hitting just 2-16. They were a strong 70 percent from the foul line.
