TexAnn tennis tops Southern Nazarene for third straight win

ADA, Okla. – Tarleton’s winning ways continued Saturday morning with a 6-3 win over the No. 8-ranked team in the Central region, Southern Nazarene, at the East Central Tennis Courts.

The match started with Tarleton taking control 2-1 in doubles play, highlighted by the sixth straight doubles win by the tandem of Erika Richarme and Ashleigh Elward. The TexAnn twosome handled the Crimson Storm No. 2 team by the score of 8-1.

In the No. 3 match, Taylor Porter, who is in her first weekend as a member of the TexAnn tennis team, earned her first career win with an 8-5 victory alongside Ellie Stevens to hand Tarleton the advantage in the match after doubles. Tarleton fell in the No. 1 battle 6-8.

Just like yesterday, Tarleton dominated the No. 3-5 spots in the lineup – this time by a combined score of 36-12.

Luiza Ferraro-Adas handled the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-1 while Stevens (6-3, 6-3) and Elena Preadca (6-2, 6-2) took care of the No. 4 and 5 matches, respectively. Meanwhile, Porter (1-6, 1-6) dropped her match in the No. 6 spot and Richarme fell in a hard-fought, three-set battle(6-2, 4-6, 10-8) in the No. 2 spot.

In the No. 1 match, Ashleigh Elward earned a valiant 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) to improve to 5-1 in singles play.

Tarleton will return to Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. for its first Lone Star Conference match of the season against Cameron in Lawton.
