STEPHENVILLE (March 3, 2016) — Even before the national finals for indoor track and field, the outdoor season is already upon us.
Tarleton State is hosting its annual season-opening Joe Gillespie Invitational with field events starting at 11 a.m. and running events beginning with the steeple chase at 3 p.m. The 4×100 meter relay is set for 4 p.m.

EXPECTED WEATHER FORECAST
The expected temperature for the meet will be between 67-60 with a high of 75 around 3 p.m. There is expected cloud cover all day with no chance of precipitation and a 21 mph wind.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time Tarleton took the track was inside the Adams State Indoor facility for the LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Thursday will be the first time this season the Texans and TexAnns compete in the elements.
INDOOR SEASON RECAP
Tarleton had seven athletes named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team for the 2015-16 NCAA Division II indoor track & field season. After learning their fate as all-region selections, DeAijha Hicks-Boyce and Chase Rathke were chosen to compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships. Hicks-Boyce will run in the 200m while Rathke will run the Mile.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will be off until March 26 when they continue the outdoor season at UTA for the Bobby Lane Invitational. In the meantime, Rathke and Hicks-Boyce will run at the Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 11-12.
