Tarleton providing free NCAA Elite Eight tickets, fan bus for students

STEPHENVILLE (March 18, 2016) — March Madness continues for the Proud Defenders of the Purple and White as the Tarleton Texans have punched their ticket to this year’s NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Frisco!

Tarleton State University Athletics and the Office of Student Engagement are offering 300 free tickets for students to attend the NCAA national quarterfinal game on Wednesday, March 23, and cheer the Texans on to a semifinal berth the following day. The first 100 tickets are reserved for students who wish to travel from campus via charter bus to Wednesday’s 6 p.m. game.

Students can sign-up for a seat on the fan bus and obtain their quarterfinal ticket beginning at 2 p.m. today, Friday, March 18, at the Office of Student Engagement (Suite 103) inside the Barry B. Thompson Student Center. Students must present their Texan Card ID to reserve their seat on the fan bus and to obtain one free ticket.

The chartered fan buses will depart the Tarleton campus at noon Wednesday from the west side of Memorial Stadium, or Lot P20, and arrive in Frisco in time for pre-game festivities. Following the game, students will be transported back to Stephenville and arrive on campus after midnight.

In addition, the university will hold a send-off pep rally for the Tarleton Texan basketball team from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, in Lot P20 on the visitors’ side of Memorial Stadium. The pep rally will begin at 1:15 and fans are encouraged to wear Tarleton Purple for Elite Events next week.

About this year’s NCAA Division II Elite Eight
The Tarleton State Texans, this year’s NCAA South Central Region Champions, are making their fourth trip to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in school history. This year’s national tournament is being held in Frisco, March 23-26, and is the first time a Division II Elite Eight has been played in the state of Texas.
