STEPHENVILLE (March 18, 2016) — Stephenville (15-0-2) completed the first undefeated regular season in the history of its boys soccer program Friday evening, dominating around a bench clearing brawl to defeat Brownwood, 2-0, at Gordon Wood Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets scored the only goal they would need when Tino Rocha dribbled in and put one home with seven minutes remaining in the opening half.

Keeper Noble Alexander continued his impressive play, especially with a sliding kick save that kept Brownwood scoreless while Stephenville still led by just one goal.

Then came the brawl – one that cleared the benches and resulted in ejections for both teams, including Pedro Manrriquez and Rocha for Stephenville.

The Jackets recovered and, while playing 8-on-8, Santi Gallego punched one in to seal the victory.

Stephenville won its opening nine contests including the Knights of Columbus Tournament of Champions title, drew twice in a week with Bridgeport, then went 6-0 through district play.

The district championship is also a first in program history for Stephenville, which draws Decatur in the bi-district round of the Region I-4A playoffs. The game is at 7 p.m. Thursday in Weatherford, and is the back end of a doubleheader beginning with the Stephenville girls against Bridgeport at 5 p.m.
