STEPHENVILLE (March 21, 2016) — With a battle cry of “Why not us,” Tarleton State veteran head coach Lonn Reisman addressed a crowd of about 200 supporters who came out for a sendoff and pep rally in the parking lot of Memorial Stadium Monday afternoon.
Tarleton president Dr. F. Dominic Dottavio challenged the Tarleton basketball players, holding up his national semifinal ring for a year ago and saying, “I know we want a different ring this year.”

Reisman agreed as he addressed the crowd.
“This is our fourth trip to the Elite Eight and Dr. Dottavio is right, I think it’s time for us to get a different ring this time.”
Tarleton players greeted the crowd, showed their appreciation for the support and departed for Frisco, where events associated with the first Division II Elite Eight to ever be held in Texas begin today.
Tarleton faces Augustana (SD) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Dr Pepper Arena. A win would land the Texans in a semifinal contest at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The championship is set for 2 p.m. Saturday.
The rally in the west parking lot of Memorial Stadium included free hot dogs and drinks, a remote broadcast by 90.5 FM KTRL and entertainment from the Tarleton cheerleaders, Texan Star Dance Team and the infamous Purple Poo.
