James Truett Stewart, 68, of Granbury, passed away on March 26, 2016, at his home.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at Acton Baptist Church.
Service: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at Acton Baptist Church.
Internment: Glenn Cemetery in Bluff Dale, TX.
Born on February 11, 1948, in Bend, TX, to George and Shirley Stewart, James spent most of his youth in Hamilton, Texas. After graduating from Hamilton High School, he attended Tarleton State University before serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After leaving the service, James graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and spent 32 years with the Dallas Fire Department, retiring as a Captain in 2003.
In recent years, James enjoyed an active retirement that included many rounds of golf and summers spent in Ruidoso with friends and his wife, Cindy. He also was a deacon at Acton Baptist Church and enjoyed mission trips with the Paluxy Baptist Association to assist with construction projects at a school and church in Juarez, Mexico.
Survivors: James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy Stewart of Granbury; daughter, Stephanie Stewart of Lewisville; sister and brother-in-law JoAnn and Weldon Adams of Rolla, MO; nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his father George Stewart; mother Shirley Bagley; and sister Janet Thompson.
