She was born on August 25, 1927, in Hamilton, Texas, to Mack Havens and Lottie Neola Cormany. On February 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Sidney Alec Carney in Hamilton, Texas. Wanda served as a member of the Wee Care Volunteer at Western Hills Nursing Home since 1980, and was an Integral part of the American Cancer Society in Comanche, Texas.

Her selfless devotion to help people was mostly unobserved by other. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Wanda was an avid cook and seamstress and enjoyed sharing those talents with anyone with a desire to learn. She regarded working in her yard and flowerbeds as the best form of therapy. She was called many things in her life: Mom, by five; Aunt Wanda by quite a few; Granny, by some; and Anmammy by many more, but most importantly, she was called to serve Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her son, Sidney Mac Carney and wife Frankie of Richmond; daughter, Deborah Ann Johnston of Comanche; daughter, Christina Flannery and husband Bill of Comanche; daughter, Carol Jane Carney of Brenham; daughter, Alexis Lee McJilton and husband John of San Antonio; five grandsons and four granddaughters; sister, Patricia Ann Lester and husband Tommy of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
