STEPHENVILLE (April 25, 2016) – Head coach Misty Wilson has announced that Mackenzie Hailey will be the newest addition to the 2016-17 TexAnn Basketball recruiting class.
“I’m so excited to have Mackenzie Hailey at Tarleton State University,” said head coach Misty Wilson. “I recruited her out of high school and we’re fortunate to now have her in the Purple and White for the next three years. She can play inside out and shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor to go along with her great rebounding skills. We’re confident that she will be an excellent representative of our program on and off the court.”

A standout talent from Burleson High School – the alma mater of TexAnn head coach Misty Wilson – Hailey was a four-year letterwinner for the Elks. She was the back-to-back MVP of her district as well as collecting all-district and all-county recognition. She averaged 17.8 points and 12.8 rebounds as a senior after averaging 20.4 points and 10.0 rebounds as a junior.
She was a three-sport athlete at Burleson, lettering in volleyball and track and field in addition to her work on the hardwood. She highlighted her track and field career with a second-place finish in the high jump at her area meet.
Last season, Hailey played in six games at the University of Texas-Arlington before missing the rest of the season with a season-ending injury.
Hailey becomes the fourth member of Wilson’s recruiting class. She joins Kylie Collins, Hannah Allen, and Lanie Roberts who each signed National Letters of Intent in November during the early signing period.
