Alex Wayne Sanchez, 21, of Stephenville, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Erath County.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Stephenville. Burial will follow at the West End Cemetery in Stephenville. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Stephenville Funeral Home.

Alex was born on December 2, 1994 in Dallas County to Mollie Elizabeth Barham and Stevie Ray Sanchez. He was a 2013 graduate of Stephenville High School where he excelled in soccer and football. After graduation he went on to play football for Tarleton as a wide receiver, and was set to begin his senior year this fall as a business major.
“Alex was a special guy within our program,” said head coach Todd Whitten. “He was truly loved within the Texan Football program and we will miss him terribly.”

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mollie Carr and husband Tommy of Stephenville; father, Stevie Ray Sanchez; brothers, Christopher Ray Sanchez of Stephenville, and Austin Lee Dickerson of Granbury; sister, Madylyn Elizabeth Carr of Stephenville; maternal grandmother, Pat Barham of Cedar Hill; paternal grandmother, Jessica Perales of Stephenville; paternal grandfather, Tommy Sanchez, Sr. of Stephenville; step-brother, Daniel Carr of Stephenville; step-sister, Hilary Carr Bussels and husband Jason of Stephenville; brother, Henry Abuto of Fort Worth; his beloved, Brilee Jaice Driver of Stephenville; Kal-el and Kona; He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephew; as well has his teammates and coaches.
Alex was preceded in death by his best friends and teammates, Brayden Coverdale, and Christain Champine; and an uncle, Tommy Sanchez, Jr.
