Private Services for Vernon Charles Kitchens, 90, school teacher and coach, will be held at a later date. The family will receive family and friends for a time of visitation Wednesday evening, August 3, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.

Charles was born in Childress County, Texas, on March 12, 1926, to John Wesley and Dema (Robinson) Kitchens. He married Marjory Nan Ball on June 1, 1952, in Childress, Texas. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2011. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his sons, Kirk Kitchens and wife, Lynne, of Lucas, Texas, and Kevin Kitchens of Stephenville, Texas; his grandchildren, Jordan Kitchens of Dallas, Texas, and Logan Kitchens of Lucas, Texas; his brother, Cuby Kitchens of Hereford, Texas; nephew, Ron Lawrence of Stephenville, Texas; and several other nieces and nephews.

  1. God be with all The Kitchen’s Family, and help them with the loss of their Dad, grandfather,& Uncle. You probably don’t remember me ,but I lived across the street from you in Stephenville and did some babysitting for you boys. Maybe you rember my Parents, Rudolph & Mildred Cooke, sisters Jo Nell & Sandra Lynn. I always looked up to Coach Kitchens & had much respect for him as a teacher, neighbor, & person. I got married & left Stephen in Jan. 1963.
