Area schools ready to welcome 2016-17 students

Area students are preparing for a new school year with school districts welcoming them back with events and activities beginning this week.

Dublin ISD

Lion pride is alive in Dublin, where the annual Meet the Lions community pep rally will be held at 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Aug. 4 at Dublin High School. Fellow students and community members will meet varsity and junior varsity football and volleyball placers, cheerleaders, band, cross country participants and the Dandi-Lion drill team.

Lions and Lady Lions get back to the books Monday, August 22. But, they will first meet their teachers Thursday, August 18. The meetings are set for 5:30-6:15 p.m. at Dublin Elementary; 4-6 p.m. at the intermediate campus; and 6:30-7:15 for all secondary students, grades 7 through 12.

Hico ISD

Classes being Monday, August 22 across Hico ISD. But, students will first have a chance to orientate themselves with educators and their respective campuses.

Meet the Teacher Night for 6-8th grade students is set for 5 p.m. Monday, August 15. Orientation for elementary students is set for 2:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18.

Junior high students will be welcomed back to school during Meet the Teacher Night, which is set for 5 p.m. August 15.

The date on which high schoolers can pick up their schedules is yet to be determined, but campus administrators will publish those details on the school district website and Facebook page as soon as they become available.

Bluff Dale ISD

Bluff Dale Bobcats, students in prekindergarten-eighth grades, begin the 2016-17 school year on Monday, August 22.

Students will meet their teachers 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, August 18.

The Cardinals fly into the new school year on Monday, August 22, when elementary students (prekindergarten-sixth) report to their classrooms and 7th through 12th grade students kick start 2016-17 in the high school gymnasium.

All students and their families will meet in the gym at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 18 before going to their assigned classrooms to meet their teachers. 

Morgan Mill ISD

Morgan Mill ISD students return to the halls of education on Tuesday, August 23, and families will be invited to campus to meet teachers and mingle with fellow families sometime after the first day of school. The orientation typically occurs during the first week of the school year.

Three Way ISD

Three Way ISD return to school Monday, August 22. Students and their families are first invited to campus 5-6 p.m. Thursday, August 18 to meet and mingle with educators and peers.

The school districts inaugural football game is set for September 8 against North Central Texas Academy, in the Granbury area, according to the schedule.

Administrators remind families to check the district’s Facebook page, website and marquee for the latest news and updates. They also ask all families to sign up with the Remind 101 text and email notification system to get the latest details from Three Way ISD and classrooms.
