FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: Sardis Cemetery in Comanche County.

VISITATION: Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 2, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

 

Matthew Joe Smith, age 17, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016, in Comanche County, Texas.

He was born on Saturday, May 1, 1999, in Dallas, Texas, beloved son of Larry and Stephanie Smith. He was a student at Priddy High School. Matthew was the friend that everyone wanted to have, he touched the lives and hearts of everyone that he met. He was a senior that had a passion for running and for making people smile. He was a member of the national honor society, cross country, basketball and track teams and never missed an opportunity to help someone out. He loved being a big brother to his three younger siblings and was a blessing to his parents. He was goofy and always kept everyone laughing. He was the friend that anyone could talk to. His favorite people in the world were his family and his Priddy Pirates. He was an example to all and inspired all of his friends to do their best. Matthew lived a life that showed Jesus to those around him. He prayed for his friends, hurt when they hurt and rejoiced when they rejoiced. He will be forever loved and dearly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Stephanie Smith of Comanche; sisters, Shelby Smith and Ellie Smith of Comanche; brother, Joshua Smith of Comanche; paternal grandparents, Larry and Sherri Smith of Comanche; maternal grandparents, Steve and Donna Mosley of Abilene; great-grandmother, Molly Colbert of Lufkin; great-grandfather, Don Ray of Boaz, Alabama; uncles, aunts, cousins and many, many friends.
