FORT WORTH (September 14, 2016) — Tarleton State University’s Dr. Gary Lacefield has been named to the Cyber Future Foundation (CFF) board of directors and will serve on the Cyber Peace Initiative committee.

Lacefield is director of the Institute for Mediation, Arbitration, Legal Studies and Forensics in Tarleton’s School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Lacefield join our board of directors and are confident that he will be a great asset as we continue to provide a collaborative platform for industry, public agencies and academia to build a more trusted and secure cyberspace at the global level,” said Valmiki Mukherjee, CFF founder and chairman.

With headquarters in Dallas, CFF was established on the heels of the flurry of cyber incidents that left a trail of compromised public, private and corporate security parameters around the globe.

The foundation’s Cyber Peace Initiative serves as a counterpoint to the negative connotations of cyberspace and, in partnership with various international agencies, works to develop frameworks for maintaining law and order and to promote ethical and moral standards in a borderless cyberworld.

He earned his doctorate in supervision, administration and conflict resolution from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

“It is an honor to serve on CFF’s board of directors and the foundation’s Cyber Peace Initiative committee,” Lacefield said. “The urgency is now, the need is now and the global requirement for privacy, respect and trust in cyberspace has never been greater.”
