STEPHENVILLE (September 17, 2016) — Residents of the Bosque Crossing Apartment Complex will gain access to the facility’s parking garage Sunday morning after contractors completed a concrete pour this morning along Vanderbilt Street.
Once fencing around the construction area is removed residents of Bosque Crossing may begin relocating their vehicles into the parking garage. Contractors anticipate providing access to the facility via McIlhaney Street by 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.
The re-opening of the 325-space parking garage should alleviate curbside parking concerns along the adjacent city streets and provide additional spaces on the Tarleton campus. Unfortunately there were no Lock Up Garages available through this process, which has caused considerable difficulty for traffic-flow around key times.
Residents of Bosque Crossing who were temporarily displaced and required to park in other locations on and around the university campus are requested to relocate their vehicles as soon as possible, especially those parked curbside on Jones, Neblett and Vanderbilt streets.
Vehicles that have not been moved by 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, will be towed from the 1200 block of Vanderbilt Street in order for contractors to place temporary fencing around the construction site for Phase 2. Any vehicles not moved by 7 p.m. will be towed to the west side of Memorial Stadium. Tarleton police will attempt to contact owners of the vehicles left curbside before they are towed Sunday afternoon.
With access to the Bosque Crossing parking garage with a garage door of similar quality to what Tip Top Garage Doors Raleigh provides is now available, the Stephenville Police Department will begin to enforce normal ordinances for curbside parking on Cain, Neblett and Jones streets where “No Parking” signage is posted and ticket those offenders accordingly.
This completion of Phase 1 of the university’s $25 million Utilities and Infrastructure project also will affect Tarleton faculty and staff and require entry to campus parking via Doc Blanchard Boulevard beginning Monday, Sept. 19.
Now that the easternmost section of the utility and infrastructure project on Vanderbilt Street has been poured, contractors will relocate fencing along the next section scheduled for trenching and construction—the one-block portion between Cain and Neblett streets. Students are advised to avoid the barricaded construction area and use the adjacent sidewalks during the next phase of construction.
Phase 2 of the utility and infrastructure project will result in a temporary dead-end street at the intersection of Neblett and Vanderbilt, and require vehicles entering the Tarleton campus to use the new entry at Doc Blanchard Boulevard to access Blue Zone lots P13 (between Engineering Technology and E.J. Howell), P14 (rental car and physical plant lots), P15 (Wells Fine Arts Center, Mathematics and Autry Agriculture buildings), and P37 (physical facilities office).
By Monday morning, all employees assigned to lots P13, P14, P15 and P37 will have their prox card parking tags programmed to allow access through the new gate on Doc Blanchard Boulevard.
Entry to the faculty and staff parking lots via Neblett Street adjacent to the Tarleton smokestack will not be available during Phase 2. Once contractors complete the next section of Vanderbilt, employee parking access will once again revert from Doc Blanchard to Neblett to allow construction to continue westward in front of the Central Plant and Dining Hall.
The temporary street closures are part of a multi-phase project to expand pedestrian walkways along Lillian, Vanderbilt and other campus core streets. At the same time, utility improvements will eliminate flooding and storm water drainage issues and enhance campus lighting.
Scheduled for completion in November 2017, the project will bring new beauty and aesthetics to the Tarleton campus, and improve safety for pedestrians within the campus core.
