TARLETON (October 10, 2016) – Anyone looking to advance their careers, won’t want to miss Tarleton State University’s Graduate and Professional School Fair.
Doug Smith, assistant director of Career Services, said the university has invited representatives of graduate programs from across the state to participate in the event.
“Different graduate programs from across campus and representatives from other universities will be at the fair,” Smith said. “Seventeen other universities will also be there.”
The Graduate and Professional School Fair will be held 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. this Wednesday, October 12 in Tarleton’s Thompson Student Center Ballrooms.
Programs expected to be represented include others that are a part of the Texas A&M University System, such as Texas A&M Commerce and Kingsville, as well as Texas Christian University, Texas Tech, Dallas Baptist, Sam Houston State University and others.
Tarleton offers a variety of graduate degree programs in the colleges of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Health and Human Sciences, Liberal and Fine Arts and Science and Technology.
Smith said distance learning programs, those in which graduate students can obtain their degrees online, will also be represented.
Tarleton alone offers 10 online programs, ranging from masters of science and business administration to information systems, public administration and more.
Prospective graduate students will also have an opportunity to visit with representatives of various offices involved in Tarleton’s graduate studies qualification process, including counselors and financial aid.
Smith suggests attendees dress in professional business attire and have a resume in hand.
“Many graduate programs require an interview due to the limited space available,” he said. “We suggest attendees come prepared.”
Career Services offers a number of online tools and tips for crafting an effective resume, as well as regular resume clinics and one-on-one appointments that can be scheduled for current and prospective students, by calling 254-968-9078. Finally, Smith said Career Services has a number of other fairs and events planned for the future, including a College of Business Administration (COBA) Job Fair slated for 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 1.
The Graduate and Professional School Job Fair was organized for business students, alumni and community members to provide an opportunity to network with professionals in various industries with business-related openings. It’s targeted toward business majors, but all others are encouraged and welcome to attend.
The November 1 fair will be located in COBA Student Lounge.
