STEPHENVILLE (November 9, 2016) – After a pair of sweeps over the weekend, Tarleton Volleyball remains No. 3 in the second South Central regional rankings.
The TexAnns are 22-5 overall and in second place in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 14-4 record. The TexAnns have the second-most in-region wins with 22, trailing only Angelo State, who is No. 1 in the region, with 25 in-region wins. Metro State of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is ranked No. 2 ahead of Tarleton.
Tarleton is one of four LSC teams in the regional rankings, with Texas A&M-Commerce ranking eighth and Texas A&M-Kingsville in ninth. Also in the top 10 are Colorado Mines (4), Arkansas-Fort Smith (5), Colorado Mesa (6), Regis (7) and Colorado Christian (10).
The top eight teams in the regional rankings at the end of conference tournament championship weekend will advance to the NCAA postseason. The conference tournament champions are guaranteed an automatic berth into the playoffs, which could affect the rankings if a non-regionally ranked team wins their respective tournament and earned the berth.
The South Central region is comprised of the Lone Star Conference, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Heartland Conference. The regional tournament will be played at the home gym of the highest seed during the first weekend of December.
Tarleton travels to Western New Mexico on Nov. 11 and plays at Eastern New Mexico at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 to close out the regular season.
