STEPHENVILLE (November 18, 2016) — With the holiday season approaching, Tarleton State University’s Staff Council plans its 23rd Annual Holiday Arts & Crafts Showcase to support local businesses and artisans on Friday, Dec. 2.
Hosted in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center on the Stephenville campus, the showcase is open to shoppers from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
This year’s event offers a chance to shop favorite returning vendors as well as new ones. More than 60 multi-talented vendors will sell a variety of arts, crafts and tasty treats.
According to Ashley Ayers, chair of Tarleton Staff Council’s Holiday Showcase committee, holiday shoppers will find a variety of fare, including woodcrafts, handmade craft items, food, clothing, jewelry, vinyl decals, wreaths, books and fine art. There will be plenty of unique gifts to help complete your holiday shopping list.
In addition to shopping at the holiday showcase, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lower level of the Thompson Student Center. Shoppers are invited to bring their children for an early Christmas photo opportunity with Santa.
“It’s going to be a great and exciting year,” Ayers said. “We have one of the highest vendor turnouts projected this year, and we hope to see our faculty, staff, students and community come out and support these area artisans and business owners.”
Tarleton will provide parking and a free shuttle service for this year’s Holiday Showcase and will transport shoppers from Lot P34 North and South, the parking areas adjacent to the university’s softball and baseball complex. Shuttles will run throughout the day from P34 to the Thompson Student Center.
The annual event supports the employee scholarships and grants program.
