STEPHENVILLE (November 22, 2016) — After placing second in the 6-4A volleyball race, Stephenville has two special honors, two first-team players, two second-team honorees and a pair of honorable-mention selections to the all-district team.
Senior and four-year letterwinner Nicona Stilwell earned the middle blocker of the year distinction and junior libero Hailey Martin was named defensive specialist of the year in a vote of 6-4A head coaches following league play.
Stilwell and Martin, along with first-team selections Taylor Garber and Emily Brandon, went on to lead Stephenville past bi-district for the sixth consecutive year before the Honeybees dropped a tough area-round matchup against perennial power Abilene Wylie. Garber played setter and outside hitter while Brandon rotated in at middle blocker. Both are seniors.
Second-team picks from Stephenville were sophomore outside hitters Jayci Morton and Chloe Goodman. Honorable-mention selections were senior defensive specialist Kylee Ponder and sophomore setter Hannah Huckabee.
