STEPHENVILLE (December 13, 2016) – A local man known for hosting teenage parties has been jailed for alleged sexual contact with a minor.
Joe Paul Martinez, 33, also known as DJ Joe, was arrested by Stephenville Police Department Monday, charged with sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony. He is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond, according to Erath County Jail records.
Justice of the Peace Shawnee Bass signed an affidavit for Martinez’s arrest on December 8. The record, which was obtained by The Flash Tuesday, alleges repeated contact with a 16-year-old female, referenced by the pseudonym “Jane NR.”
Stephenville police became involved in the case on November 28, following a report from Child Protective Services. The affidavit states another minor female told a counselor Martinez was having sexual intercourse with the her 16-year-old friend, Jane NR.
Police interviewed the victim, who reportedly said she had intercourse with Martinez four or five times. She also reported he had provided her with a cell phone without her father’s consent or knowledge.
The cell phone was examined by police and indicated an ongoing relationship between Martinez and the minor, according to the request for an arrest warrant.
After Martinez was located and interviewed by police on December 7, and the affidavit states Martinez admitted to giving Jane NR the cellphone and communicating with the 16-year-old.
Meanwhile, police said an interview with the father of the victim reveal that Martinez had asked for permission to date his daughter. The father reportedly refused, telling Martinez to stay away from his child.
