(December 15, 2016) — Four area prep football standouts have been named to the Associated Press Sports Editors All-State Team.

Stephenville and De Leon each have two honorable-mention selections in their respective classes, Stephenville on defense and De Leon on offense.

For the Yellow Jackets, Ragan Wood is an honorable-mention all-state selection at linebacker, and Mason Holstein joins him at defensive back. De Leon honors from the APSE went to quarterback Kevin Yeager, just a sophomore, and receiver Daniel Sanchez.

Wood and Holstein helped the Yellow Jackets to third place in 3-4A Division I and on to the bi-district round of the Region I-4A playoffs.

Yeager and Sanchez led De Leon on a historic season as the 7-2A Division I runner-up went on to reach the Region II-2A championship game, its first state quarterfinal appearance since 1990.
