FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche County.

VISITATION: Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 18.

LUNCH: Lunch for the family will be at Comanche Community Center at 12:00 noon.

MEMORIALS: If desired, family requests memorials are made to Abiding Life Fellowship Church 121 Bunker Hill Drive, Comanche, Texas 76442.

Dorothy Jean Keys, age 89, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016, in Comanche, Texas.

She was born on April 3, 1927, in Comanche to Sylvester and Arbie (Hughes) Hicks. Dorothy was owner of several cafes in Abilene, Texas. She worked as a waitress at Lola’s Café and the Deluxe Café in Comanche. She also worked for Girling Home Health. She was a “Precious Mother.” Dorothy was the matriarch of our family. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed fishing and loved singing gospel songs. Dorothy was very talented in jewelry making.

She is survived by four daughters, Brenda and husband Ronald Steele of Comanche; Mary Smith of Comanche; Arbie McAliley of Nacogdoches; and Helen Solomon of Deleon; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; one brother, Mack Hicks of Wylie; sister-in-law, Peggy Hicks of Rowlett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Arbie (Hughes) Hicks; daughter, Sondra Jean Keys Mitchell; brother, Sherrill Hicks; sister, Helen Summers; granddaughter, Christina Marie Solomon; grandson, Perry Mark Karasek; sister-in-law, Sesselja Hicks; brother-in-law, Gene Summers; son-in-law, Lee Rex McAliley and children’s father, Ellis Keys.
