Dublin – Services for Betty Kirklen, 75, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville with Rev. Dan Trempala officiating. Burial will follow at Cow Creek Cemetery in Erath County. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Betty was born in Dallas, Texas on July 30, 1941 to Ira and Mattie Hodges. She graduated from Irving High School in Irving, Texas in 1959. She married Don Kirklen on June 1, 1968, in Irving, Texas.
Throughout her life, she worked at several different places including Aeroquip Corp., MacArthur High School, National Gypsum, Tarleton State University, St. John’s Lutheran Church, and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also pastor’s wife for over twenty years.
Betty was very fond of farm animals- especially goats. She also loved gardening, canning, and painting- especially birds. In addition, she enjoyed playing with her grandson and helping others who needed help.
She was a member at Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville.
She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi organization.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Don Kirklen of Dublin, Texas; son, Ben Kirklen and wife, Donna of Dublin, Texas; grandson, Chris Kirklen of Dublin, Texas; as well as several other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Mattie Hodges, one brother, and one sister.
